Intra Articular Corticosteroid Injection in Rheumatoid Arthritis Patients

نویسندگان

چکیده

Objectives: This study was done to assess the effect of intra-articular injection corticosteroid in persistent synovitis rheumatoid arthritis (RA) patients.
Methods: Thirty RA patients with one joint were subjected corticosteroid. All examined for disease activity by score 28 (DAS28), functional assessment using Modified Health Assessment Questionnaire (MHAQ), and laboratory investigations (erythrocyte sedimentation rate C-reactive protein). Affected joints evaluated pain visual analog scale (VAS) tenderness score. Follow-up at 2 months after clinical, laboratory.
Results: There a significant improvement VAS, score, DAS 28, MHAQ injection.
Conclusion: Intra-articular is safe effective treatment option patients.

Intra-articular corticosteroid injection for osteoarthritis

Efficacy Intra-articular corticosteroid injection is quick and simple to carry out and in RCTs it has a large effect size (ES) of 1.27 at 7 days postinjection for pain relief against placebo for knee OA [101]. It produces relatively rapid relief of severe pain within a few hours or days. Although this benefit is relatively short lasting, in RCTs (1–4 weeks), individual patients may derive benef...

Herpes zoster following intra-articular corticosteroid injection.

Localized herpes zoster following intra-articular corticosteroid injection is remarkable. We describe an 80-year-old woman with severe osteoarthritis that received an intra-articular injection of 80 mg methylprednisolone in her knee, followed 1 day later by the appearance of linear unilateral vesicles and bullae on her leg in a dermatomal distribution adjacent to the injection site. The roofs o...

Intra-articular steroid therapy in rheumatoid arthritis.

The introduction of steroid preparations into joint cavities has become a routine method of treating some cases of rheumatoid arthritis. Murdoch and Will (1959a, b) have drawn attention to the persistence of prednisolone trimethyl acetate (P.T.M.A.) in the joint cavity and to its, apparently, purely local effect when administered in this way. Since then, Triamcinolone (T.C.A.), Dexamethasone (D...

Intra-articular urokinase in rheumatoid arthritis.

It has been suggested that urokinase may have some value in the management of patients with rheumatoid arthritis (Morotomi and Tatezawa, 1970; Ito and Naito, 1970). This fibrinolytic agent activates plasminogen, converting it to plasmin competitively and reversibly. Thus there is some basis, however speculative, for its use in rheumatoid arthritis-a disease which on several clinical and laborat...

Plasma steroid levels after intra-articular injection of prednisolone acetate in patients with rheumatoid arthritis.

Eight patients with rheumatoid arthritis received an intra-articular injection of either 50 mg or 100 mg of prednisolone acetate into the knee joint. After the injection plasma levels of prednisolone were measured by radioimmunoassay and plasma cortisol levels were estimated fluorimetrically. Peak prednisolone levels were reached at between 2 and 4 hours after the intra-articular injection at b...
